KINGS DESTROY (BOOKING)

Brooklyn’s Kings Destroy take their name from a graffiti gang that was active in the Bronx during the late 70s and early 80s which is completely appropriate. The band?s self-titled album (their third release in four years) that already got voted to be 5th important Album of 15 on the Obelisk, sounds like it came from that era, when New York was a grimy and dangerous place, walls with spray-painted tags and art outnumbered clean ones, and the rightest colors anyone wore were shit brown and navy blue.

Kings Destroy have distinguished themselves with a sound neither noise, nor doom, nor heavy rock, but drawing on elements of all three when it suits their purposes with chemistry built from years of being in bands together of various stripes and in various genres. Kings Destroy are considered a stoner/doom band, but as demonstrated by the painfully infectious track „Mr.O“ there’s just enough of a punk influence that it’s easy to imagine them playing at CBGB’s, too. Little wonder that Kings Destroy arrives with endorsements from Pentagram’s Bobby Liebling and Yob.“ Mike Scheidt
