John Baizley is a painter and musician. He is notable for his album cover art and t-shirts for artists including Kylesa, Pig Destroyer, Darkest Hour, Daughters, Skeletonwitch, Torche, Cursed, Black Tusk, Kvelertak,Vitamin X, Flight of the Conchords, The Red Chord, Gillian Welch and his own band, Baroness, for which he is the singer and rhythm guitarist.[1] Choosing to work mostly with fairly small bands rather than big name bands, his work is instantly recognizable in the heavy music scene.

After recording 3 ep´s and 3 albums with his Band Baroness John joined the Songs of Townes Van Zandt club and recorder 3 songs for the Songs of Townes Van Zandt.

“Earlier this year, My Proud Mountain label approached me about contributing some tracks to the second “Songs of Townes Van Zandt” covers collection. While Baroness is preparing to resume touring, I am excited to come to Berlin and play music that our audience may be unfamiliar with me performing. I have always been an admirer and devotee of Townes, and I hope I can come and do some of his songs justice. This will be a unique opportunity for me.”
